The City of Abbotsford’s Street Operations division is seeking a self-motivated, hard-working individual to join our dynamic team as full-time
Utility Persons (Roads). In this hands-on role, you will contribute to the repair, maintenance, and construction of City roads, sidewalks, intersections, and bicycle paths. You will also perform roadside clean-up and vegetation maintenance, operate all trucks and equipment as required, and be responsible for inspecting, servicing, and performing repairs on road infrastructure to ensure safety and functionality.
Your ability to maintain a clean and safe work area, comply with safety regulations, and exercise sound independent judgment will make you a key asset to the team. Success in this role will be guided by your thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in road and drainage system infrastructure and repair.
As a Utility Person (Roads), you’ll assist in road, curb, and sidewalk construction, operate trucks and equipment, and help direct other operators. You’ll be expected to work independently, follow safety protocols, and maintain accurate records. If you are a team-oriented individual with a solid understanding of road construction practices, the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations, and a desire to make an impact in a fast-growing municipality, we’d love to hear from you!
In order to be considered for this position, you must have:
- Completion of Grade 12
- Two (2) years’ experience in road construction or maintenance
- Valid Class 3 BC Driver’s Licence
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $30.68 to $36.08.
