Compensation: Competitive hourly wage (Based on experience and Skilled Trades Ontario guidelines) + BenefitsJob SummaryWe are seeking an ambitious, driven, and reliable 3rd Year 309A Electrical Apprentice to join our growing field operations team at Solify. In this role, you will work directly on-site alongside our Designated Master Electrician (DME) and a licensed 309A Journeyperson.
You will gain hands-on, cutting-edge experience installing solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), smart EV chargers, and main service upgrades. This position offers a flexible schedule ranging from 20 to 40 hours per week depending on project pipelines. - Assist in field installations of residential and commercial solar arrays, battery backup storage systems, inverter setups, and EV charging infrastructure.
- Perform heavy conduit bending, mounting of AC/DC disconnects, pulling wire, and executing clean structural wire management under direct supervision.
- Support main electrical panel upgrades, assisting with breaker installations, sub-panels, and critical load wiring.
- Maintain job site organization by managing inventory, staging materials, and ensuring all tools and safety equipment are accounted for and in prime condition.
- Enforce strict on-site safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, fall protection equipment, and adherence to ESA safety guidelines.
- Develop technical skills daily by reading engineered blueprints, understanding electrical schematics, and learning to troubleshoot renewable energy tech.
- Document and track hours meticulously, working with our licensed team to sign off on your Skilled Trades Ontario logbook milestones.
- Represent Solify professionally while on client properties, maintaining a clean workspace and communicating politely with homeowners when needed.
Qualifications
- Apprenticeship Status: Registered 309A Construction & Maintenance Apprentice in good standing with Skilled Trades Ontario (3rd-year level preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of practical field experience; prior experience with residential wiring, service upgrades, or commercial conduit bending is a strong asset.
- Tools: Possession of your own basic hand tools of the trade is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Confident handling power tools, measuring, and bending EMT/PVC conduit cleanly and efficiently.
- Physical Fitness: Physically capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions, working on sloped roofs, climbing ladders, and safely lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Driver’s Licence & Vehicle: Valid Ontario Class 'G' driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle is preferred to reach local job sites across the GTA, but not strictly required.
- Mindset: Reliable, punctual, safety-conscious, and possessing a strong work ethic with a desire to learn complex, modern energy systems. [1]
