Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Structural Steel Fabricator / Installer to join our team. This role involves the fabrication and installation of structural steel components for various construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical skills, experience with welding, and the ability to read blueprints and schematics. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects in a fast-paced manufacturing and construction environment, contributing to the successful completion of large-scale structures. Minimum 5 years experience required. Pay to be discussed at time of interview.
Duties
- Fabricate steel components using MIG and Stick welding techniques, plasma cutting, Iron Workers, and hand tools
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and installation
- Rigging and maneuvering steel sections using overhead cranes and telehandlers to facilitate assembly.
- Measure, cut, drill, and assemble steel parts with precision using calipers, power tools, and machining equipment
- Install fabricated steel structures on-site according to project specifications, ensuring proper alignment and safety standards
- Perform basic math calculations for measurements, angles, and material estimations during fabrication and installation processes
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and materials, adhering to safety protocols at all times
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues related to fabrication or installation processes
Skills
- Proven experience with rigging, and forklift handling in a construction or manufacturing setting
- Mechanical knowledge with proficiency in welding (MIG & Stick), plasma cutting, machining, and assembly techniques
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, calipers, and other measuring devices for precise fabrication
- Familiarity with press brake machines and plasma cutters for shaping steel components
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes related to ductwork, structural steel assembly, and construction practices
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations necessary during fabrication tasks
- Knowledge of schematics for electrical or mechanical systems related to structural components is a plus
- Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and adhere to all safety regulations during on-site installation
This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, teamwork orientation, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship. Successful candidates will have relevant experience in construction or manufacturing environments involving steel fabrication and installation.
