Position Purpose
The Sponsorships and Partnerships position is responsible for developing and growing corporate sponsorship, partnership, and philanthropic revenue for Alderney Landing. This role leads the identification, cultivation, solicitation, activation, stewardship, and renewal of sponsorship opportunities across Alderney Landing’s signature events, Craig Gallery programming, public markets, community initiatives, and future capital campaigns.
The position serves as Alderney Landing’s primary relationship manager for corporate partners and sponsors while building long-term strategic relationships that support both annual operating revenue and future capital development opportunities. This position reports directly to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities
Sponsorship Sales & Revenue Generation
- Identify, research, prospect, and secure new corporate sponsorship and partnership opportunities.
- Create customized sponsorship proposals and partnership packages.
- Prepare and finalize sponsorship agreements and contracts.
- Achieve annual sponsorship revenue targets established by the CEO and Board.
- Maintain an active sponsorship sales pipeline and prospect database.
Relationship Management & Stewardship
- Ensure all sponsorship obligations and benefits are delivered.
- Coordinate sponsor recognition, hospitality, and promotional opportunities.
- Maintain ongoing communication with sponsors throughout the year.
- Prepare sponsorship impact reports and stewardship materials.
- Identify opportunities to increase sponsorship value and retention.
- Develop multi-year sponsorship relationships.
Capital Campaign and Strategic Relationship Development
- Build relationships that support future fundraising and capital campaign initiatives.
- Identify prospective major donors, corporate supporters, and community champions.
- Work with senior leadership and the Board to cultivate strategic funding relationships.
- Support sponsorship opportunities connected to Alderney Landing redevelopment projects.
- Maintain detailed records of partner engagement and future funding opportunities.
Marketing & Brand Partnerships
- Work collaboratively with administration, marketing, gallery, market, and event staff.
- Assist in the development of sponsorship marketing materials.
- Identify opportunities for sponsor storytelling and community impact communications.
- Support media announcements and sponsor recognition campaigns.
Strategic Development
- Develop annual sponsorship sales strategies and plans.
- Analyze market opportunities and sponsorship trends.
- Track performance metrics and prepare reports for the CEO and Board.
- Contribute to long-term revenue diversification strategies.

Target Revenue: $130,000
Signature Event Sponsorship Development
- Lead sponsorship sales, activation, stewardship, and renewal efforts for:
- Mother Goose Festival
- Fire and Water Festival
- Bluenose Ghosts Festival
- Christkindlmarket
- Rock the Harbour
- Prospect and secure new event sponsors.
- Develop event-specific sponsorship packages.
- Manage sponsor recognition and benefits.
- Conduct post-event reporting and renewal discussions.
Craig Gallery Sponsorship Development
- Secure sponsorship support for Craig Gallery exhibitions and programming.
- Develop sponsorship opportunities for exhibition openings and special events including the provision of refreshments.
- Recognition as title sponsor of gallery openings
- Opportunity to invite up to 50 guests to gallery openings
- Wine and cheese reception and live music
- Opportunity to address attendees
- Opportunity to meet and support local artists
- Social media promotion
- Print media recognition
- On-site signage
- Opportunity to engage with new potential clients
- Build partnerships supporting artist talks, workshops, educational programming, and community engagement initiatives.
- Secure sponsorship support for Summer Art Camps and youth programming.
- Exclusive title sponsorship of Alderney Landing Fine Art Camps
- Opportunity to address participants and families
- Social media promotion
- Print media recognition

- Develop long-term partnerships with businesses and arts supporters.
Market Sponsorship Program
- Develop and manage sponsorship opportunities for:
- Saturday Farmers’ Market
- Banner at the main entrance
- Weekly activation table at the market, example $3,000 per Saturday × 50 markets = $150,000 value.
- Opportunity to address the public throughout the season
- Social media promotion
- Sunday Artisan and Cultural Market
- Stage branding
- Weekly activation table at the market, example $1,500 per Sunday × 50 markets = $75,000 value
- Opportunity to address the public

- Wednesday Market
- Local performance stage branding promoting local musicians, artists, and performers
- Weekly activation table at the market, example $500 per Wednesday × 50 markets = $25,000 value
- Opportunity to address the public

- Sell market sponsorships that gives businesses a table at the market and supports market programming including music, entertainment, and children’s programming.
- Manage sponsor visibility, signage, and onsite activations.
- Build annual sponsorship renewal opportunities.
Focus:
- Establish sponsorship program.
- Build prospect database.
- Secure foundational annual sponsors.
- Develop sponsorship packages and sales materials.
- Achieve 70–80% renewal commitment for Year Two.
Year Two
Target Revenue: $170,000
Focus:
- Expand corporate partner base.
- Increase multi-year agreements.
- Introduce larger presenting sponsorship opportunities.
- Develop philanthropic sponsorship initiatives.
- Increase sponsor retention and renewal rates.
Year Three
Target Revenue: $200,000
Focus:
- Mature sponsorship portfolio.
- Secure strategic multi-year partnerships.
- Develop naming rights opportunities.
- Position Alderney Landing for future capital campaign partnerships.
- Achieve strong sponsor retention and growth.
Additional Performance Metrics
Bonus eligibility also requires:
- Minimum 80% sponsor renewal rate.
- Accurate CRM and pipeline management.
- Timely sponsor fulfillment.
- Positive sponsor satisfaction feedback.
- Submission of quarterly sales reports.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of sponsorship sales, fundraising, business development, or partnership management experience.
- Demonstrated success securing corporate sponsorships or major partnerships.
- Strong networking, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience preparing proposals and negotiating agreements.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of the arts, culture, tourism, events, or not-for-profit sectors is considered an asset.
Success Measures
The successful candidate will:
- Generate $120,000 in sponsorship revenue during Year One.
- Build a sustainable sponsorship pipeline valued at a minimum of 3x annual targets.
- Achieve strong sponsor retention and satisfaction.
- Establish Alderney Landing as a premier sponsorship platform within Atlantic Canada.
- Contribute significantly to the organization’s long-term financial sustainability.
