Duties
- Safely operate a Class 1 commercial truck to transport freight between various locations, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your vehicle to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards
- Load and unload freight using equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including manifests, delivery logs, and inspection reports
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to coordinate deliveries, resolve issues promptly, and ensure timely service
- Perform routine maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues or repairs needed for the vehicle
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts when required for loading or unloading freight
Skills
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience in freight transportation and commercial driving operations
- Proficiency in heavy equipment operation, including forklifts and other loading machinery
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and cargo handling
- Ability to perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshoot mechanical issues when necessary
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with team members and clients
- Ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize deliveries, and work independently in a fast-moving environment
