The Laundry Associate reports to the Environmental Services Manager and is responsible for laundering services of the residents’ personal laundry and the community’s general laundry according to the policies of the community and aligned with but not limited to the Retirement Homes Act. A major part of your role as a Laundry Aide will be to actively involve residents in everyday domestic living.
Wage Rate
The starting wage rate is $17.83/hour.

Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of tasks that may relate to laundry services as per the job routines. This includes but is not limited to laundry sorting, washing, drying, stain removal, labeling, and delivery to the suite,
May include housekeeping services,
Reports any safety or risk concerns immediately to the manager or designate,
Completes mandatory training as scheduled,
Adheres to established department policies, procedures, and objectives regarding quality management, safety, environment, and infection control,
Maintains effective communication with Residents, families, and fellow team members,
Promotes the vision, mission values, as well as the Residents’ Bill of Rights,
Focuses on a person-centered approach while maintaining the organization’s policies and procedures,
Any and all other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal,
Current CPR & First Aid Certificate preferred but can be trained,
Knowledge and understanding of the Retirement Homes Act and other applicable legislation,
Familiar with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act,
Basic understanding of washer and dryer operations and some knowledge of chemicals used in the process,
Previous laundry experience, preferably in hospitality or a retirement home,
Previous employment in a health care/hospitality setting is an asset,
Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors,
Ability to work from the heart and make others smile,
Ability to make the most of the time you have to provide positive social interactions,
Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results from less than 6 months old and must be able to provide three supervisory references
