Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Design Manager specializing in Custom Metal Fabrication. The ideal candidate will be hand on and lead the design team, oversee project development from concept to completion, and ensure that all designs meet client specifications and industry standards. This role requires a strong background in mechanical engineering, system design, and advanced CAD software using Solidworks, with a focus on delivering innovative and precise fabrication solutions.
Duties
- Lead and coordinate the design process for custom metal fabrication projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications.
- Develop detailed designs using CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Create and review schematics, technical drawings, and blueprints for accuracy and compliance with engineering standards.
- Collaborate with in house sales team, engineering teams, fabricators, and clients to refine design concepts and resolve technical challenges.
- Manage drafting staff, assign tasks, review work quality, and ensure continuous improvement in design processes.
- Ensure all designs comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and project specifications.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in mechanical engineering, CAD technology, and fabrication techniques to enhance project outcomes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in custom metal fabrication design or related manufacturing environments with a minimum of 5 years of management experience.
- Extensive proficiency with CAD software including AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, schematics, drafting standards, and construction practices pertaining to food processing equipment.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a team of designers effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills coupled with attention to detail and precision in technical work.
