Position Title: Casual Support Worker - Live-in Support Worker and Community Worker
Reports to: Service Coordinator
Location: Kamloops, BC
Employment Type: Casual; flexible schedule, 24-hour shifts, day shifts.
Schedule: Shifts are 24 hours starting at 9 am and ending at 9 am on the following day.
Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with diverse disabilities who can exhibit challenging behaviours and will be committed to providing high-quality care in the individuals' home and community.
Duties:
- Providing 24 hour in-home, personalized support to adult(s) with diverse abilities.
- Provide personal care and assistance to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic environment for Persons Served by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Monitor and document Persons Served' health status, reporting any changes to the appropriate personnel.
- Support clients in engaging in social activities and community involvement.
- Uphold confidentiality and respect the dignity of each client at all times.
24-hour Shifts: This position is considered a "Live-In" position under the BC Employment Standards Act. Support Workers are not expected to be awake throughout the entire shift and are provided a staff room/bed to sleep in. However, if the individual required assistance overnight, the support worker would provide essential support when needed.
Compensation: IMLKS offers competitive wages and benefits, covers meals during shifts and mileage is reimbursed upon submission. IMLKS also offers training and development opportunities for its employees.
Other Perks:
Meals: during work hours, meals are provided for staff to eat.
Downtime: throughout the day when the individual is occupied with their own activities, there is time for staff to take breaks and do their own activities on site such as reading a book, exercising, cooking/bake, etc.
Job Requirements:
- A valid Driver's License
- A safe, reliable vehicle that can be used for work
- Safe driving history
- Valid First Aid Certificate *Can be obtained during training period*
- Clear Criminal Record Check (Processed within our office)
- Medical clearance
- TB test (to be completed within probationary period)
- Must be permitted to work at least 24 hours a week on an ongoing basis
