Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Production Manager and undertakes general production and maintenance tasks within a regulated Natural Health Products manufacturing facility. Given the nature of the position, daily tasks will be varied and will require a strong problem-solving approach. Exposure to pneumatic, electronics, mechanical power transmission and general fabrication will be of great benefit to the successful candidate.
Required Skills
Installation & Setup
- Install, assemble, and move machinery and equipment
- Validation of new Equipment
Maintenance & Repairs
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on production equipment
- Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs
- Replace or rebuild components such as bearings, belts, gears, motors, pistons and peristaltic pumps
- Lubricate equipment and maintain maintenance records in CMMS
Troubleshooting
- Identify the root cause of mechanical failures or downtime
- Work with production to resolve issues quickly
- Adjust equipment to optimize performance and efficiency
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures and lockout/tagout protocols
- Ensure equipment meets regulatory and company safety standards
- Participate in safety inspections and hazard assessments
Collaboration
- Work closely with operators, contractors and supervisors
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist in training less experienced team members
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
- Electrical and plumbing knowledge
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
- Skilled in precision measurement and alignment
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset
- Attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork
- Ability to work under pressure in a production environment
Education & Certification
- Industrial Mechanic
- Apprenticeship or equivalent experience
Working Conditions
- Physically demanding (lifting, climbing, kneeing, standing)
- Exposure to noise, heat, and moving machinery
