3D Applications Engineer/Specialist
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop, test and implement 3D software programs for automated precision 3D data capture and inspection of manufactured parts and assemblies (plastics and formed metals and composite materials)
- Thorough knowledge of all advanced, engineering grade 3D metrology hardware and 3D software (3D modeling and 3D inspection/analysis) the company deploys for Contract services.
- Development of solid skills in the use of all advanced 3D metrology hardware and 3D software (3D modeling and 3D inspection/analysis) to support customer product design and product or process engineering needs.
- Work with minimal direction and supervision.
- Adhere to specified standards for quality control of 3D metrology equipment and contract services (e.g. ISO 9001)
- Assist with quotation of professional contract services and complete assigned tasks in quoted times
- Provide expert technical sales support for precision 3D metrology system and 3D software (3D modeling and 3D inspection) as required for customers and prospective customers across North America.
- Provide annual technical training outline to Manager, Technical Services
Core Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Civil) in directly related fields of study (or equivalent education and professional experience).
- 3-5 years 3D CAD software experience (preferably with multiple 3D software packages)
- Some experience with multi-material 3D printing
- Must have a current passport as travel may be required.
- Must be fluent in English with strong technical communication skills (knowledge of a 2nd language is beneficial due to the multicultural nature of our customers)
- Must reside in the Greater Toronto Area (role is based in Mississauga, ON)
- Physical ability to handle 3D laser scanning and surveying equipment on site
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering and other ‘shop’ drawings
- Valid Ontario driving license
