About the role
Groundskeeper plays a vital role in ensuring properties are well-maintained, safe, and visually appealing. This position involves performing landscaping and exterior maintenance tasks, applying treatments for pests and supporting seasonal and routine groundskeeping activities.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out seasonal maintenance activities such as winter snow removal, fall cleanup, spring preparation, and removal of debris or damaged tree limbs resulting from adverse weather conditions.
- Perform landscaping and exterior maintenance tasks, including mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, raking, fertilizing, watering, and other assigned lawn-care duties.
- Apply sprays or dust treatments to trees, shrubs, lawns, and gardens, as directed and in compliance with applicable safety procedures, to manage insects and plant disease.
- Conduct snow and ice removal on residential and commercial properties using shovels, snowblowers, and other equipment.
- Safely operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment, including power mowers, trimmers, chain saws, sod cutters, and snow-removal machinery.
- Apply weed, pest, and disease-control treatments following established safety protocols and applicable regulations.
- Assist in the planning, organization, and coordination of routine ground maintenance activities, as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
- Junk removal and haul to landfill & Garbage pickup.
- Perform regular maintenance and safety inspection on groundskeeping systems.
- Perform additional manual labor or maintenance-related tasks required to support the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of landscaped areas.
- Select and oversee the procurement of groundskeeping materials and equipment.
Candidate requirements:
- Ability to operate various tools and know how to operate a vehicle that can pull a trailer.
- Comprehensive knowledge of building regulations and codes and safety standards.
- Proven groundskeeping experience, with the ability to maintain and care for a variety of property types.
- To be on call on a routine basis (after 4 PM, weekends, and statutory holidays).
- Strong teamwork spirit.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with owners, tenants, clients and team members.
- Willingness to learn and adapt efficiently and effectively.
Work conditions and physical capabilities :
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) all the time at work.
- Potential exposure to dangerous chemical substances, including fertilizers and pesticides.
- Ability to work at extreme temperatures, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and sun.
- Ability to work on uneven or slippery surfaces
- Performing repetitive motions, including lifting, digging, raking, and trimming.
- Willing to work flexible and extended hours as required by project demands.
