Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to assist with leading culinary operations in a dynamic restaurant environment. Fiume Restaurant in Perth Ontario is in the beautiful Perth Parkside hotel. We are a full service Italian Steakhouse, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, 7 days a week. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive food industry knowledge, and a passion for creating exceptional dining experiences. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee kitchen activities, manage food preparation, and ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality. Candidates with restaurant management experience and a background in hospitality are highly preferred. The Sous Chef will play a vital role in supervising kitchen staff, maintaining efficient operations, and delivering outstanding service to our guests.
Duties
- Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Work with the Head Chef to create dynamic menus and recipes for both a la carte, corporate functions, private parties and weddings.
- Supervise kitchen staff, including line cooks and kitchen assistants, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to recipes and high quality standards.
- Oversee food handling procedures to maintain safety and sanitation compliance in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Coordinate with serving staff to ensure timely delivery of orders and optimal customer satisfaction.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies to maintain smooth kitchen operations.
- Train new team members on food preparation techniques, safety protocols, and restaurant policies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area throughout shifts.
- Lead by example in demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and leadership within the kitchen environment.
- Calm demeanor to maintain a positive work environment and professional culture.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and food service within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Supervising experience with team management skills is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling procedures, valid Ontario Food Handlers Certificate is essential.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent communication skills.
- Experience in restaurant management or related roles is preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service hours.
- Knowledge of the food industry trends and commitment to high-quality service.
- Passion for culinary arts with a focus on teamwork, hospitality, and serving guests at the highest level.

Pay: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
