Summary:
As Manufacturing Estimator - Fabrication & Machining, you are responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for manufacturing projects ranging from $50,000 to $10M+. This role works cross-functionally with production, sales, and operations to evaluate project requirements, develop pricing strategies, and support business development efforts. The Estimator also serves as a key point of contact for clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
What You'll Do:

Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labor, materials, and subcontracting

Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and technical requirements

Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing cost models

Collaborate with shop, production, and quality teams to validate estimates

Assess feasibility based on company capabilities and capacity

Support risk analysis and baseline costing for project planning

Liaise with vendors and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing

Coordinate with sales to develop competitive bids and manage pipeline activity

Maintain client communication and support scope definition

Utilize ERP/CRM systems for estimating, quoting, and tracking

Contribute to pricing strategies and continuous improvement of estimating processes

Provide technical input and cost-effective solutions to internal and external stakeholders

Perform other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring:
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
-
Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related discipline

3–5 years of estimating experience in metal machining and fabrication
-
Hands-on shop experience (machining, welding, fitting) is an asset
-
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Infor Visual, JobBoss, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage)
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, Outlook, Power BI, PowerPoint)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and welding/machining symbols

Familiarity with North American manufacturing standards

Experience developing DXFs and improving cost models is an asset

Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
-
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment

Professional designations (EIT, P.Eng., PMP) are considered assets
-
Second language is an asset
