Job Summary
The Construction Manager will be an engaged and committed individual who will lead the production and supervision of Muehlhan Wind Service Canada's scope of work on various wind project sites, including the oversight of drivers, operators, technicians, and subcontractors.
This role requires a hands-on leader with strong knowledge of the wind industry and construction sites, able to coordinate various crews, enforce safety and quality throughout.
This position will primarily be performed at project site(s) for extended periods, however during slow periods, may be required to report to a Muehlhan Wind Service Canada office as required.
Duties
- Plan, coordinate and adjust schedules as needed with all stakeholders to avoid delays
- Communicate effectively, promptly and professionally
- Lead by example in all aspects of Construction, Safety and Quality
- Conduct weekly “All hands” and “Toolbox talks” with crews
- Reinforce company and HSE policies to ensure site safety and foster a zero-incident culture
- Oversee project, conduct inspections as necessary per our Safety and Quality programs and to ensure compliance with client specifications
- Implement corrective actions promptly and hold crews/individuals accountable
- Identify potential cost overruns early, make data driven decisions and optimize resource allocations without compromising quality or safety
- Communicate delays or risks immediately, adjust resources to meet deadlines and maintain an organized scheduling system
- Provide clear direction and resolve conflicts constructively
- Motivate teams and support professional growth of team members
- Maintain professionalism when communicating with clients and other stakeholders
- Respond to issues promptly to ensure client satisfaction
Skills
- Three (3) to Five (5) years experience managing large scale projects, preferably in a field directly related to the position (ie. Wind, Civil, Structural, Electrical, Power) with multiple contractors and disciplines
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) , would be considered an asset
- Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) Certificate
- Varied technical knowledge in construction methods, engineering principles, safety regulations
- Knowledgeable in various construction disciplines; cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, engineering drawings
- Planning and organizational skills (scheduling, resource allocation, risk management)
- Knowledgeable on emergency response plans, safe work procedures, permitting procedures, and safety rules and regulations
- Demonstrate exceptional Leadership Skills (team management, problem-solving, client communication) and Customer Service
- Clear, decisive communicator; able to motivate multi-disciplinary teams
- Problem Solving: Analytical approach to emerging site challenges; rapid mitigation mindset
- Skilled at contract interpretation and conflict resolution with stakeholders
- Must be able to perform under pressure and in in environments of rapid change and conflicting, sometimes uncontrollable demands and factors
- Extensive experience in the Wind industry preferred
- Valid CSTS 2020 Certification - ACSA/ESE (w/i 3 years)
- Valid WHMIS 2015 Certification - ACSA/ESE (w/i 3 years)
- Valid LOTO – ACSA/ESE (w/i 3 years)
- PMP or Construction Management Certification, would be considered an asset
- Wind Turbine Technician Certification, would be considered an asset
- Enhanced First Aid Training, would be considered an asset
- Basic Safety Training Standard through the Global Wind Organization (GWO) , would be considered an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent Interpersonal Skills
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills required
- Must be a highly driven and goal orientated individual and possess a high degree of pride
- Must be able to lead and positively motivate field personnel
Working Conditions
- In office or remote locations across Canada
- Exposure to the elements
- Day, Night and Weekend shifts
- 21/7 rotational schedule (when working on project site)
- Overtime will be required to meet business objectives
- Must be able to perform vigorous physical tasks and physically lift 50lbs
- Adhere to safety regulations and protocols
Conditions of Employment
- Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License and meet company Driver Risk Matrix
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $115,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
