Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Pipe Layer Lead Hand to oversee and coordinate pipe installation projects. This leadership role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, mechanical systems, and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with excavation, electrical systems, and various tools, ensuring efficient project execution while maintaining high safety standards.
Duties
- Lead and supervise a team of pipe layers and construction workers on-site, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and efficiently
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and rigging gear to facilitate pipe installation
- Oversee the setup and use of power tools, hand tools, and welding equipment for precise pipe placement and connections
- Manage the safe handling of low voltage electrical systems associated with piping projects
- Perform or assist with trenching, bedding, and pipe laying activities according to project specifications
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure timelines are met and materials are available on-site
- Conduct safety inspections and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents or injuries during operations
- Provide training and mentorship to team members on equipment operation, safety procedures, and technical skills
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively
- Proficiency in operating excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and other heavy machinery
- Electrical experience related to low voltage systems used in piping projects
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, rigging gear, and welding equipment
- Strong understanding of safety standards in construction environments
- Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining a focus on quality work and safety compliance
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and project stakeholders
- Experience in welding techniques relevant to piping installation is preferred

Pay: $24.82-$42.31 per hour
