Sinai Health is seeking a proactive and experienced Manager, Risk Management to join our leadership team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating clinical and operational risks, with a primary focus on risk prevention and the safety of our people within an academic hospital environment.
Reporting to the Director, Risk Management & Emergency Preparedness, you will lead key initiatives such as conducting comprehensive risk assessments, investigating incidents, and developing robust policies and training programs in line with industry best practices. You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure our risk management processes are current, effective, and fully compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements.
As a vital contributor to the advancement of Sinai Health’s Risk Management Program, you will collaborate with clinical staff, department leaders, and other key partners to identify, evaluate, and reduce risks. Your leadership will help foster a positive, proactive safety culture and support Sinai Health’s ongoing commitment to excellence in patient care and workplace safety.

In this role you will:
- Oversee and support the Patient Safety and Risk Specialist in the daily event reviews and management of the online incident reporting system
- Utilize the hospital’s online incident reporting system to track, analyze, and resolve incidents effectively, working closely with Quality, IPAC and other clinical and operational teams to prevent recurrence
- Lead investigations of patient and visitor safety events in non-clinical areas and collaborate with leadership to support recommendations
- Respond daily to organization-wide risk requests to provide expert consultation and advice on a wide variety of patient care, policy and administrative matters with internal constituents including leaders, managers, physicians, clinical staff, Quality and other corporate support departments
- Lead/facilitate ad-hoc working groups to resolve key risk and patient safety issues, system gaps, or deficiencies and monitor process improvements for sustainability over the short/long term
- Lead the development and enhancement of risk management-related policies, training, and education aligned with best practices, patient safety standards and legal requirements
- Participate in select corporate level committees and workgroups as a Risk Management representative
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including leadership, to identify and mitigate enterprise risks, implement controls, and align risk practices with legal, regulatory, and best practice standards
- Lead the development, implementing and evaluation of the annual Risk Management Work Plan, along with the Hospital's participation in HIROC's self-assessment program (RAC), advising clinical teams on implementing mitigation strategies to reduce claims and improve safety
- Identify risks and ensure appropriate action is taken to improve safety for patients, staff, and the public
