Position Overview
Margaret’s Café is seeking reliable, detail-oriented Food Preparers to join our seasonal team. This role is responsible for heating, plating, wrapping, and presenting all hot menu items while maintaining strict food safety, cleanliness, and service timing—especially during peak periods.
Food Preparers report directly to the Café Manager and work closely with the Cashier, Barista, and Supervisor to keep service flowing smoothly.
What You’ll Do
● Heat, plate, wrap, and present all hot food items according to standards
● Ensure food is served hot, correctly portioned, and within target service times
● Follow all food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness procedures
● Date, store, and rotate food products properly
● Receive, stock, and replenish incoming products
● Monitor equipment performance (panini grills, ovens, soup tureens, fridges
● Communicate inventory needs to supervisors or management
● Support opening and closing kitchen duties
● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
● Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks
● Assist with event setup and other café needs as required
● Be open to shifts across Six by the Sea properties
Required Skills & Qualifications
● Previous food service or kitchen experience preferred
● Comfortable using kitchen tools and knives
● Reliable, punctual, and strong work ethic
● Excellent attention to detail and consistency
● Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
● Willingness to learn and follow standardized procedures
● Strong communication and teamwork skills
● Comfortable working in an open-concept kitchen
● Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
● Willingness to assist with duties beyond the core role
Schedule & Availability
● 4–10 hour shifts
● Day and late afternoon shifts
● Weekdays, weekends, and holidays required
● Operating Hours: ○ Mon–Wed: 9:00am–5:00pm & Thurs–Sun: 9:00am–6:00pm
Wage- $18.00/hr plus TIPS
Education & Experience
● Customer service/ Kitchen experience (asset)
● Experience in food service, tourism, or hospitality (asset)
● Food Safe Certification and/or Responsible Beverage Server (asset)
