Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated BC/AB Overnight PIN to PIN Highway Class 1 Driver to join our transportation team. This role involves safely and efficiently transporting freight across provincial borders during overnight hours, ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, experience with heavy equipment, and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards on the road. Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks for overnight PIN to PIN freight transport between British Columbia and Alberta.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking freight loads and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Manage freight loading and unloading, utilizing equipment such as forklifts when necessary, to ensure secure transportation.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, pickups, and vehicle logs in accordance with company policies.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during transit.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or any issues encountered on the road.
- Perform routine maintenance or coordinate repairs with automotive repair specialists as needed to keep vehicles in optimal condition.
- Operate heavy equipment safely when required for loading or unloading freight at terminals or warehouses.
Skills
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety protocols.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment and perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary.
- Excellent navigation skills for long-distance overnight routes between BC and AB.
- Good communication skills for effective coordination with dispatch and warehouse personnel.
- Ability to work independently during overnight shifts while maintaining high safety standards.
- Physical capability to lift and move freight as needed, along with stamina for long hours on the road.
