The Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 invites applications for the position of Equipment Operator I. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing semi-skilled and skilled equipment operation on a variety of specialized light and heavy equipment to facilitate the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, and rights-of-ways within the M.D. of Bonnyville.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment, including, but not limited to, patch truck, snowplow, water truck, tandem truck, skidsteer, forklift and loader and perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
- Follow all procedures for safe and efficient operation of equipment.
- Advise supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored.
- Prepare equipment, timecards, material haul cards and pre-trip equipment inspection forms, including the posting of equipment hours, fuel, oil etc.
- Perform all essential functions of manual labour and other related duties within the scope of the position as required.
- Participate in a rotating standby schedule and work night shifts as required.
- Maintain current knowledge of, and ensure compliance with, all applicable laws and regulations related to weight and load restrictions.
Qualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge of heavy equipment and maintenance programs and procedures.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in fleet maintenance.
- Proficiency with computers is required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to demonstrate teamwork.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
