Overview
Our company is looking to hire a skilled Carpenter who also holds (or is willing to obtain) Intermediate First Aid certification to join our growing construction team on a tilt-up concrete project in BC.
With an average of 24 workers on site, this hybrid position combines hands-on carpentry work with the important role of designated Intermediate First Aid attendant (WorkSafeBC requirement for high-hazard construction sites of this size). You’ll stay active with tools while helping ensure crew safety and compliance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Proficient in operating manual and power tools for cutting, shaping, and measuring materials
- Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment through daily inspections, lubrication, and cleaning
- Performs general carpentry, framing, and drywall finishing work, including tilt-ups
- Provides carpentry skills in the layout and framing of metal, concrete, and wood stud walls, soffits, chases, and ceilings for industrial and residential projects
- Fits and installs trim items such as doors, stairs, moulding, and hardware
- Complies with all company policies, regulations, and local health & safety laws
- Reads and interprets blueprints and structural drawings (considered an advantage)
- Assists supervisors with structural design, planning, layout, and installation
- Serves as the on-site Intermediate First Aid attendant, responding to any medical needs promptly and professionally
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of carpentry experience
- Strong knowledge in operating manual and power tools
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License
- Physically fit and able to work under stress for long hours
- Intermediate First Aid certification (WorkSafe BC-recognized) is required — candidates willing to obtain it may be considered
