Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Class 1 Truck Driver to join our transportation team. This role involves safely operating heavy-duty trucks to deliver freight across various locations, ensuring timely and efficient service. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of commercial driving regulations, vehicle maintenance, and safety procedures, contributing to the seamless movement of goods and supporting our company's logistics operations.
Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 trucks for long-haul and local deliveries, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to ensure vehicle readiness
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and clients regarding delivery schedules and issues
- Operate forklifts and other heavy equipment to facilitate loading/unloading processes when required
- Assist in warehouse operations related to freight handling and inventory management as needed
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience in commercial driving, freight transportation, or related fields preferred
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and perform basic automotive repairs is a plus
- Knowledge of safety protocols for heavy equipment operation and transportation regulations
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and vehicle maintenance records
- Physical ability to load/unload freight, operate heavy machinery, and perform vehicle inspections
- Prior experience with heavy equipment operation or automotive repair is advantageous but not mandatory
