Polar Performance Materials was founded in 2012 and produces ultra-high purity alumina (HPA) using a proprietary low-carbon process. The factory, located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Polar’s HPA is increasingly necessary to manufacture products used in high growth, high purity semiconductor applications. Other applications include LEDs, lithium-ion batteries, thermal management materials, and technical ceramics utilized in aerospace, medical and industrial systems.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Electrician to join our maintenance team. The Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment within a high-purity, corrosive, industrial manufacturing environment. This role requires a hands-on, safety-focused professional who can work independently as well as part of a team. Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motor controls, and Eaton electrical distribution/control equipment is an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Installation & Maintenance
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment, wiring, and control systems
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform corrective actions efficiently
- Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper operation and compliance with codes
- Assist in upgrading and modifying electrical systems as required
- Support organization and accuracy of electrical spare parts inventory
- Assist with the commissioning of new equipment
2. Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all company safety procedures, electrical codes, and regulatory requirements
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Identify and report electrical hazards or unsafe conditions promptly
- Ensuring compliance with various government regulations including but not limited to Environmental, Health and Safety, Building Codes, TSSA and Electrical Codes.
3. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs, inspections, and repair activities
- Assist with preventive maintenance schedules and reporting
- Support special projects as assigned by the Supervisor
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid 442A Industrial Electrician Certificate of Qualification or 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician Certificate of Qualification. 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright or dual-ticket experience is considered an asset.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program or equivalent experience as an industrial/maintenance electrician
- Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing electrical work
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, control panels, and wiring practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, standing, bending, and working at heights if required.
