Turn-Key Communications is the leading Telecommunications contracting company in Northwestern Ontario. We are seeking a Telecommunications Line Installer at our Thunder Bay office. The Telecommunications Line Installer will support our Outside Plant Construction department as well as our Structured wiring department. Duties
String lines or install communications equipment using bucket trucks, or by climbing poles or ladders, or entering man holes, trenches, or crawl spaces.
- Maintain tools or test equipment.
- Climb ladders, poles (spurs) & work from a bucket truck
- Dig trenches for underground wires or cables.
- Fill and tamp holes, using cement, earth, and tamping devices.
- Inspect or test lines or cables, recording and analyzing test results, to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults or malfunctions.
- Install equipment such as amplifiers or taps to maintain the strength of communications transmissions.
- Lay underground cable directly in trenches or string it through conduits running through trenches.
- Participate in the construction or removal of telecommunication strand & cable or associated support structures.
- Pull cable through ducts by hand or with winches.
- Pull up cable by hand from large reels mounted on trucks.
- Set up service for customers, installing, connecting, testing, or adjusting equipment.
- Splice cables, using hand tools, epoxy, or mechanical equipment.
- String cables between structures and lines from poles or ducts and pull lines to proper tension.
- Use a variety of construction equipment to complete installations.
- DZ license or ability to obtain an asset
Requirements
Travel to work sites to perform installation, repair or maintenance work.
- Inspect telecommunications equipment to identify problems.
- Analyze test or performance data to assess equipment operation.
- Measure equipment outputs.
- Test communications equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Install insulation in equipment or structures.
- Climb equipment or structures to access work areas.
- Lay cables to connect equipment.
- Clean equipment, parts, or tools to repair or maintain them in good working order.
- Maintain work equipment or machinery.
- Explain use of products or services.
- Calculate requirements for equipment installation or repair projects.
- Move large objects using heavy equipment.
- Dig holes or trenches
- Operate cranes, hoists, or other moving or lifting equipment.
- Assemble structural components.
- AZ. AR or DZ license or ability to obtain an asset

Pay: $26.00-$36.00 per hour
