About the Job
We run a fast-growing outdoor lighting company in Edmonton called BrightLine Lighting. We specialize in two things: high-end architectural landscape lighting and permanent, year-round holiday lighting tracks.
We take a lot of pride in doing clean work, and we need another reliable technician to join the crew. This isn't a generic labor job—you will be trained in a specialized trade where you can actually see the results of your hard work at the end of the day.
What the Work Actually Looks Like1. Landscape Lighting Installs (Spring & Summer)
When we are transforming yards and architectural features, your focus is on precision ground work and clean aesthetics. You will need to:
- Run Low-Voltage Lines: Shovel clean, shallow trenches to bury low-voltage wiring through lawns, garden beds, and under pathways, ensuring we leave the landscaping looking untouched.
- Fixture Placement: Assemble and place premium fixtures (up-lights, path lights, hardscape lights) exactly according to the design plan.
- System Wiring: Run wires back to a central hub, mount transformers, wire them up safely, and set up smart timers or zone controllers.
2. Permanent Holiday Lighting Installs (Fall & Winter)
When we pivot to permanent roofline lighting, the job changes completely. You will be off the ground and working at heights. You will need to:
- Operate at Heights: Work comfortably and safely off 32-foot extension ladders, steep rooflines, and occasionally aerial lifts. If heights make you nervous, this part of the job isn't for you.
- Track Installation: Securely mount color-matched aluminum tracks and pixel lighting systems along gutters, fascia, and soffits.
- Flawless Wire Management: Hide all jump wires, tuck extensions out of sight, and secure everything tightly so it withstands heavy Edmonton winters.
- Controller Setup: Mount control boxes, connect power supplies, and help program the smart-home lighting apps.
What We Are Looking For:
- Zero Fear of Heights: You’ll be on roofs and ladders regularly during holiday lighting season. Safety is our number one priority, but you have to be comfortable up there.
- An Eye for Detail: We don't do sloppy work. If you leave messy wires hanging, crooked tracks, or cut corners to finish early, you won't last long here.
- Hands-On Experience: You should know your way around a drill, wire strippers, and basic hand tools. Experience in roofing, siding, electrical, landscaping, or irrigation is a huge plus.
- Valid Driver’s License: You need a clean driving record to operate the company truck.
- Reliability: Showing up on time, ready to work hard in changing Alberta weather.
What’s In It For You?
- Good hourly pay based on what you bring to the table, plus bonuses when the crew beats project goals.
- We teach you the trade. You don't need to be a certified electrician; we will fully train you on low-voltage systems and smart controllers.
- Real room to grow. We want people who want to step up, run their own trucks, and lead crews as we scale.
How to Apply
We only hire people who actually pay attention. To apply, send over your resume and include a quick note telling us your comfort level with heights (on a scale of 1 to 10) and your favorite outdoor hobby. > If you don't include those two things in your note, we will assume you didn't read the posting and won't look at your resume.
Pay: $18.00-$23.00 per hour
