Part Time Custodian - Event Venue
Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Event Closing Custodian to join our team. This role is essential to ensuring our venue is clean, secure, and ready for the next event. You’ll be responsible for cleaning up after weddings and other events, assisting with teardown, and securely closing the venue late at night. This is a part time position with varying hours. You will be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Performs room take down for functions (i.e. weddings, banquets, community events) and cleans building after function has ended.
- Vacuum, sweep and mop all floors.
- Wash and disinfect all washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, counters and fixtures. Clean all mirrors.
- Replenish toilet tissue and soap as needed.
- Empty all garbage and recycling containers.
- Clean commercial kitchen and bar, including counters, prep areas, sinks and equipment.
- Clean front lobby and exits including glass, doors and hardware.
- Perform final walkthroughs to check for damages, lost items or overlooked messes
- Lock up the venue and ensure all doors, windows, and lights are properly secured/off
- Report any damage or unusual findings to the hall administrator
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Completion of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting.
- Good communication skills; reading, writing and oral skills.
- Able to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Good interpersonal skills with the general public.
- Able to work alone or with minimum supervision.
- Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal safety equipment and clothing.
- Able to provide a Criminal Reference check with Vulnerable Sector screening dated within the last six months that is satisfactory to the Town.
- Able to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends and statutory holidays Night shift is 11PM – 4AM, depending on the event.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform physical tasks for extended periods
- Punctuality, reliability, and trustworthiness are a must
- Previous experience in custodial work, closing event venues, or cleaning is required
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
