Adventure Tails is a Reader’s Choice award-winning company in the Peterborough area, and we are looking for a dependable Dog Walker / Pet Sitter to join our team.
This is a long-term, part-time, casual support position. It’s a great fit for active retirees, freelancers, remote workers, or those with weekday daytime flexibility who are looking for supplemental income.
Availability Required
- Monday–Friday daytime availability
- Limited weekends
- Visits typically scheduled between approximately 9:00am–3:00pm, with some late afternoons
- Most work will be scheduled in advance, while other visits may be offered on short notice
This is a variable-hours role designed to support overflow, vacation coverage, and schedule changes. Some weeks may have 15+ available. Other weeks may have few. Weekly hours are not guaranteed.
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Travel to clients’ homes to walk dogs and provide pet care
- Take dogs to trails, parks, and through forests (95% of services are within walking distance of the client’s home)
- Care for pets in their homes including refreshing water, feeding meals, giving treats, playtime, and cuddles
- Provide calm, attentive, and reliable care while following detailed instructions

This Role Works Best For Someone Who:
- Is based in Peterborough and plans to remain local
- Is looking for supplemental income rather than full-time employment
- Is comfortable with variable, non-guaranteed weekly visits
- Loves the outdoors and is physically active
- Is punctual, dependable, and able to follow instructions carefully
- Can work independently with little supervision
- Is comfortable working in all types of weather (rain, snow, heat, humidity — this is an active outdoor role)
Qualifications
- Experience in the animal industry or equivalent is an asset
- Experience as a pet parent
- Physically fit and able to walk multiple dogs daily
- Must have an insured and reliable vehicle
- Valid G or G2 driver’s license and comfortable driving in all weather conditions
- Reliable cell phone with data plan and GPS
- Strong communication skills and responsiveness to management
- Ability to provide professional references and a current clean police record check
