Job Summary
We are seeking a vigilant and responsible Traffic Control Professionals to oversee the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and equipment at construction sites. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with safety protocols, direct traffic flow, and assist with site operations. This role is vital in maintaining a secure work environment, especially when heavy equipment operation, paving, and construction activities are ongoing.
Duties
- Direct and control vehicle and equipment movement within construction zones to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Coordinate with work teams to facilitate smooth traffic flow around active work areas.
- Set up signage, barriers, and cones to guide traffic according to project plans.
- Monitor site conditions continuously, identifying potential hazards or safety violations.
- Assist with the operation of heavy equipment as needed, ensuring proper safety procedures are followed.
- Support work operations by managing traffic during work activities to protect workers and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and drivers to relay instructions and updates.
- Maintain accurate records of traffic flow and incidents for reporting purposes.
Requirements
- Our worksites are smoke- and vape-free. Candidates must be willing and able to comply with strict no-smoking/no-vaping site rules during working hours, including in company vehicles and on client properties.
- Prior experience in traffic control or related fields is preferred.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation is a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
- Strong attention to safety protocols and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for clear instructions and coordination.
- Valid certifications in traffic control or flagging are advantageous but not mandatory; training can be provided.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, set up signage, and assist with site activities as needed.
- Must be reliable, attentive to detail, and able to work effectively within a team environment.
Optional
- Ability to complete (or learn to complete) Ministry Of Transportation and Transit (MOTT) documentation, such as: Initial Project Category Assessments, Project Risk Analysis, Category 1 & 2 Traffic Management Plans.
- Successfully use the documentation listed above to secure approved H1080 Permits requests from MOTT.
