Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support pharmacists in dispensing medications, managing patient interactions, and maintaining pharmacy operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a clinical setting and contribute to patient care. Prior hospital or pharmacy technician experience is preferred, along with strong knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration procedures. The Pharmacy Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring accurate medication dispensing, patient safety, and efficient pharmacy workflow.
Key responsibilities
- Welcome customers and provide excellent service in person and over the phone
- Support prescription drop-off and pick-up workflow under pharmacist supervision
- Assist with data entry, paperwork, filing, and other pharmacy support tasks
- Recommend suitable front-store, wellness, and OTC products based on customer needs, while referring clinical questions to the pharmacist
- Process POS and cash transactions accurately
- Help with stocking shelves, receiving orders, checking expiry dates, and general merchandising
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area
- Protect customer and patient privacy at all times
- Work closely with pharmacists and team members to keep service fast, accurate, and friendly
Requirements
- Experience in pharmacy, healthcare, retail, or a fast-paced customer service environment
- Efficient in Fillware Software
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Confidence in sales, upselling, and product recommendations without being pushy
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable using computers, POS systems, and pharmacy software
- Ability to multitask and stay calm during busy periods
- Reliable, professional, and team-oriented
- Any certifications, registrations, or training required in your area
Preferred qualifications
- Previous pharmacy or drugstore experience
- Fillware Pharmacy Software Experience
- Knowledge of OTC and wellness products
- Experience with inventory, merchandising, or cashier duties
- Exceptional communication skills
- Experience handling sensitive customer situations professionally
