Assistant Operations Manager - Seafood & Marine Operations
Location: Vancouver, BC
Compensation: $70,000 - $85,000 per year DOE to start, plus annual performance bonus, RRSP matching program, and comprehensive benefits package.
About the Opportunity
A well-established and respected seafood processing and logistics operation is seeking a motivated Assistant Operations Manager to support day-to-day logistics, vessel coordination, production, and operational activities.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, building relationships, and working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
You will work directly alongside experienced operational leaders while gaining exposure to commercial fishing operations, vessel logistics, seafood processing, production, warehousing, and supply chain management.
This is not a desk-only role. You will spend time in the office, warehouse, plant, and on the dock helping keep operations running smoothly.
Seafood industry experience is preferred; however, candidates with strong operational experience from marine, logistics, transportation, aquaculture, commercial fishing, or related industries will also be considered.
What You'll Be Doing
- Coordinate deliveries of seafood, bait, supplies, and materials between vessels, docks, warehouses, and processing facilities.
- Support logistics planning and operational coordination for active commercial fishing vessels.
- Communicate regularly with fishermen, vessel operators, suppliers, freight providers, warehouse personnel, and leadership teams.
- Assist with production coordination, inventory movement, shipping, receiving, and operational planning.
- Help resolve operational and logistical issues in real time.
- Support warehouse, dockside, and plant activities as required.
- Assist with reporting, documentation, and general operational administration.
- Build strong working relationships across all areas of the business.
What We're Looking For
- Experience within seafood processing, commercial fishing, aquaculture, seafood logistics, marine operations, vessel operations, dockside operations, transportation, warehousing, supply chain, or a related industry.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of personalities.
- Comfortable communicating directly with fishermen, vessel operators, captains, suppliers, production teams, and leadership.
- Highly motivated, dependable, and eager to learn.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment where priorities can change quickly.
Additional Experience Considered an Asset
- Seafood processing experience.
- Vessel scheduling or marine logistics experience.
- Warehouse, production, or operations leadership experience.
- Supply chain, freight, or transportation coordination experience.
- Forklift certification or forklift experience.
- Microsoft Excel proficiency.
