Position Summary
Pacific Coast Express Limited has an opening at our Winnipeg location for a City Dispatch Coordinator for a small fleet of trucks. This position coordinates the daily pickup and delivery (P&D) of freight within the City of Winnipeg and surrounding area. This role focuses on optimizing local driver routes, ensuring customer deadlines are met including delivery and pick up appointments and maximizing efficiency. This position bridges the gap between drivers, customers, and terminal management to resolve service issues and manage the flow of goods.
Description & Responsibilities are as follows,
· Responsible for ensuring timely pickups and delivery of shipments to customers to city drivers based on trailer capacity, freight volume, and driver availability.
· Coordinates appointments and utilizes dispatch software to provide real-time tracking updates, and managing customer expectations regarding ETAs.
· Utilize your knowledge of the city, ensures efficient routes to minimize empty miles and traffic delays.
· Proactively manages service issues such as missed appointments, traffic delays, unexpected customer closures, or shipment discrepancies.
· Updates computer system throughout the day, books appointments and follows up for missing delivery receipts
· Completes driver check-in to ensure all paperwork is submitted timely and updates computer system for any extra charges or exceptions.
· Ensures safety above all else including regulatory compliance requirements.
Experience and Qualifications
· Prior experience in LTL, logistics, or transportation load planning is required.
. Excellent familiarity with the local city/regional area to effectively plan routes.
· Proficient is using technology, experienced with transportation software (e.g., AS/400), TruckMate and GPS system as well as MS Office.
· Strong verbal and written skills for managing constant communication with drivers and customers.
· Ability to remain calm and make fast decisions under pressure.
· Cheerful and professional in all aspects of internal/external customer relations

· Data entry and strong keyboard skills
· Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
Typical Day in the Life
You begin your day by reviewing "on-hand" freight that must be delivered that day and planning the routes for the drivers. Throughout the day, they communicate with drivers via our new app to provide pickup instructions, reroute drivers and respond to urgent customer requests, and track progress. Handle exceptions, such as a damaged shipment or a driver being detained at a facility, and ensure all trucks return timely to the terminal for unloading.
