North 49 Sales Agency Inc., a division of North 49 Alliance, is a specification and product representation agency specializing in roofing and building envelope products. We are seeking an enthusiastic, results-oriented technical sales representative to join our team.
About the role
The ideal candidate possesses strong sales skills, a solid technical understanding, and the ability to communicate confidently and professionally with clients. The Technical Sales Representative will be responsible for building lasting relationships with key stakeholders in the construction industry while identifying and developing new market opportunities. This role requires independence, integrity, teamwork, and professionalism.
This is a field position requiring frequent travel to meet with contractors, distributors, architects, and design professionals throughout Quebec, the Gatineau region, and Ottawa.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management and Development
- Actively manage and grow existing and new client accounts.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with architects, consultants, general contractors and other distributors in the construction industry.
- Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Promote roofing products and systems, expansion joints, and any other products represented by North 49 Sales Agency Inc. to specification professionals, using technical expertise and marketing tools.
- Conduct product presentations through in-person meetings, lunch-and-learn sessions, or webinars to educate clients on industry trends and innovations.
Project Tracking
- Identify, track, and follow up on potential projects to ensure that proposals and quotes are submitted on time.
Networking and industry monitoring
- Attend industry events to expand your network, stay informed about trends, and promote the solutions offered by North 49 Sales Agency Inc.
- Stay up to date on innovations and technical advancements by collaborating with the in-house technical team and technical representatives from partner manufacturers.
Required skills and experience
Education and Experience
- 5 years of sales experience, ideally in the construction or building materials industry (experience in roofing or commercial waterproofing is a plus).
- A proven track record of building strong customer relationships and driving sales growth.
- A degree in architecture, engineering, business administration, or a related field is a plus, though not required.
Technical skills
- Strong technical learning ability, with the capacity to quickly understand and explain complex product and system solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Knowledge of a CRM system is a plus.
Sales and communication skills
- Excellent sales aptitude, including negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to present technical solutions in a convincing manner.
- Bilingualism (fluency in both French and English is required)
Autonomy and time management
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- High degree of independence, self-discipline, and the ability to effectively manage a flexible schedule.
Other requirements
- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Availability to travel frequently throughout Quebec, the Gatineau region, and Ottawa (client meetings, road trips, industry events).
