S&R Sawmills has a long history of Custom Cutting in the Lower Mainland. We are a family run business that was established in 1963 and we currently have a workforce of over 300 employees on a large strip of the Fraser River. Role Description:
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, Millwright employees are responsible for safely performing quality work and preventative maintenance on all plant systems and machinery. We have a wide variety of industrial equipment from hydraulic grapples to vertical band mills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain, replace and repair plant systems and machinery, reporting to your supervisor daily
- Safe operation and start-up of heavy equipment
- Minimize downtime by identifying and repairing breakdowns before they happen
- Follow preventative maintenance plan
- Work in a safe manner following all Lock Out, Hot Work and Safe Work Procedures
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised to get tasks done in a timely manner
- Team player, with good communication skills
- Correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Identify, protect, and report safety hazards to management or a member of the safety committee
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- Red Seal Industrial Mechanic Certification
- Ability to follow instructions and read blueprints
- Knowledge of basic electrical systems
- Experience driving a forklift
- Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics an asset
- Stick welding an asset
- Required to work at heights and/or tight spaces occasionally
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Reliable and dependable
- Must be able to work Tuesday - Saturday and have flexible shift availability, including mornings, afternoons and evenings
