Reporting to the Care Manager for Children, Youth & Families Addiction and Mental Health, the Mental Health Therapist (MHT) with the Crisis & Stabilization Team (CAST) provides timely mental health and risk assessments, triage, referral, and crisis intervention to children and youth. The role includes delivering telephone and mobile crisis response, providing de-escalation and brief solution-focused therapy, and supporting stabilization in both hospital and community settings. Key responsibilities include collaborating with Emergency Departments, Psychiatry, EPS/RCMP, and community partners; connecting clients to appropriate resources; completing required documentation and data collection; and participating in case conferences, team meetings, and ongoing program development within a multidisciplinary environment.
As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Master’s in Psychology, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy; or RN/RPN with mental health training Active registration with relevant Alberta college (CARNA, CRPNA, ACOT, CAP, ACSW) Minimum 3 years’ experience in addiction and mental health, including crisis intervention with children and youth (community setting preferred) Formal training in triage, intervention, and stabilization for children and youth
Preferred Qualifications:
3–5 years clinical experience with children, youth, and families (community mental health preferred) Training in a therapeutic modality (e.g., CBT, Solution-Focused, Narrative, MI, Family Systems) Experience in suicide risk assessment and intervention Current CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification Connect Care experience preferred
