Job Title: Junior Accountant

Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000 CDN

Position Summary: Reporting to a senior finance leader, the Junior Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations with a primary focus on inventory, cost accounting, and production-related financial activities
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting
- Assist with daily accounting operations, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Prepare supporting schedules and working papers
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process vendor invoices and ensure proper coding and approvals
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with customer invoicing and collections follow-up
Inventory & Costing
- Assist in tracking raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods inventory
- Support inventory counts and cycle counts in coordination with operations
- Help maintain standard costs and analyze variances (yield, shrinkage, waste)
- Monitor production-related costs including labour, packaging, and overhead
Production & Operations Support
- Work closely with plant operations to ensure accurate reporting of production data
- Assist in analyzing production efficiency, yields, and waste
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing financial insights
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and food industry regulations
- Assist with audit requests (internal/external)
- Prepare basic financial reports and assist in variance analysis
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 0–3 years of accounting experience (manufacturing experience is an asset)
- Progress toward CPA designation (preferred but not required
Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic understanding of cost accounting and inventory systems
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Sage X3, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar) is an asset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
