As an essential member of our healthcare team, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within the correctional facility. In this role, you will conduct health assessments, provide direct patient care, and manage a wide range of medical needs in a secure and dynamic environment. With considerable autonomy, you will administer medications, monitor treatments, and manage chronic conditions while responding to emergency medical situations. As part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, you will work alongside healthcare professionals, correctional officers, and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive care tailored to the needs of the inmate population. Your work will support the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health, while also focusing on the prevention of illness, injury, and disability.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including external agencies. Demonstrated strength in working in a complex environment utilizing critical thinking. Demonstrated knowledge and application of AHS/Recovery Alberta Harm Reduction policy suite and Trauma Informed Care principles. Ability to perform to the physical requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent acute care experience preferred (up to full time equivalent within the last four years). Corrections health experience across youth, adult male & female remand/sentenced populations is an asset. Connect Care experience preferred.
