Overview:
Founded over 50 years ago and trusted throughout Nova Scotia as a reliable and reputable foundation forming business, Moore and Cormier Contracting is seeking new talent to round out our team of hard working labour form setters.
As a Labour Form Setter, you will literally help shape housing and construction projects for Nova Scotians. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse construction sites, utilizing your skills to set up concrete forms and help to pour foundations that are the backbone of durable structures.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in setting up and securing formwork for concrete structures according to blueprints and schematics.
- Operate heavy equipment and power tools necessary for form installation, including hammers, wrenches, drills, and saws.
- Read and interpret construction blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately position forms.
- Collaborate with cement pourers, carpenters, masons, and other trades to ensure proper alignment and stability of forms.
- Strip forms
- Perform heavy lifting of equipment, tools, and materials such as rebar, lumber, and concrete forms to facilitate efficient assembly.
- Support rebar installation and masonry work as needed during form setup and removal phases.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools, materials, and debris regularly to promote safety and productivity.
Requirements:
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Previous construction experience with a focus on form setting or related roles.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Knowledge of carpentry, rebar installation, concrete forming, caulking, masonry, restoration, home construction, and renovation techniques is highly desirable.
- Thorough understanding of construction procedures and safety protocols related to construction sites and heavy equipment.
- Self motivated and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Must be available to work long hours including occasional weekends
- Must be able to lift and carry forming materials
- Physical stamina required for heavy lifting (prolonged standing, bending, and working at heights if required.
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong teamwork skills with excellent communication abilities to coordinate effectively with other tradespeople.
