We are excited to be recruiting for a full time Hotel Maintenance Supervisor for our amazing property, the Norwood Hotel.
This position will primarily be Day Shifts, but occasional Evenings and Weekends may be required.
The Norwood Hotel has always been an innovative leader in the hotel industry. The Norwood Hotel has an interesting and diverse history dating back to the latter part of the 1800’s. The earliest records available indicate a photograph of the hotel in 1895. In 1937, the Hotel came under the ownership of the late Merle Sparrow and has been operated by the Sparrow family ever since. This longevity in ownership makes the Norwood the oldest operated family hotel in Manitoba and one, if not the oldest in all of Western Canada
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, and appearance of the hotel, ensuring a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and team members. This role oversees the day-to-day maintenance operation, coordinates preventative maintenance programs, manages relationships with external contractors, and works closely with the General Manager to address facility needs and prioritize projects.
Duties:
1. Coordinate and oversee all building maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance programs, working closely with the General Manager and external contractors to ensure hotel systems (including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and drainage) operate efficiently.
2. Perform routine preventative maintenance throughout guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas to ensure all equipment, fixtures, and furnishings remain in excellent working condition.
3. Complete general maintenance repairs, including patching, painting, carpentry, and minor repairs to guest rooms, hallways, meeting spaces, and other hotel facilities.
4. Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and hotel facilities to identify maintenance concerns and proactively address issues before they impact the guest experience.
5. Maintain the hotel's exterior grounds to ensure they are clean, safe, and well-presented, including coordinating seasonal maintenance such as snow removal, ice control, landscaping, and general property upkeep.
6. Purchase, organize, and maintain an appropriate inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment while ensuring cost-effective purchasing practices.
7. Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot hotel security systems, including guest room door locks, access control systems, security cameras, and other life safety equipment, escalating repairs when required.
8. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and team members, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and professionally.
9. Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with health and safety regulations, company standards, and applicable building codes.
10. Keep the General Manager informed of maintenance priorities, ongoing projects, capital repair needs, and any issues that may impact hotel operations or the guest experience.
What you bring to the table:
1. At least 3 years of Hotel Maintenance experience or relatable handyman experience
2. Positive and hardworking attitude
3. Ability to effectively communicate with team members and other departments.
4. The ability to stay focused in a high volume, fast paced industry and ensure accuracy and procedures are followed.
5. Ability to work independently.
6. Ability to work inside and outside of hotel throughout all seasons.
7. Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on heating, cooling and ventilation systems, plumbing systems, and electrical systems.
8. Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies.
9. Paint, Repair drywall.
10. Perform routine maintenance jobs and repairs.
