Overview
We are seeking an Experienced Telehandler Operator (class 7) with a valid ticket and experience with rotating telehandlers to join our renewable energy team for a large commercial project. The right candidate should demonstrate safe operation of equipment and be responsible for moving materials to the correct location within the job site. Primary responsibility will be operating the rotating telehandler. Secondary responsibility will be assisting with racking installation on the roof as needed.
Duties and responsibilities:
Primary
- Moving controls, devices, and levers to drive telehandlers to transfer materials between unloading, processing, loading, and storage area.
- Use rotating telehandler to safety move materials onto roofs (50ft +).
- Organizing and securing stored pallets and other materials.
- Loading or unloading materials manually or with telehandler, off or on to pallets, platforms, flatbeds, enclosed shipping containers, or lifting devices.
- Performing routine post and pre inspections to ensure suitable working nature.
- Reporting to site supervisor regarding any damage to racks, faulty equipment, or any other safety hazards.
- Perform general clean-up tasks to keep work area clean and free of excess debris.
Secondary
- Install solar PV systems, specifically the racking and mounting system and assist in the module installation.
- Use hand tools and power tools efficiently for assembly and mounting tasks.
- Conduct safety inspections throughout the installation process and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and within scope.
- Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition.
Requirements:
- 2+ years telehandler experience.
- 2-5 years construction experience.
- Valid class 7 telehandler certificate.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Able to follow instructions as directed by the supervisor.
- Able to operate in high speed and fast paced environment.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Be able to commute to and from work on time.
- Must own basic PPE (hard hat, CSA certified steel-toe boots, high vis. vest).
- Can lift up to 40lbs repeatedly.
- Physically capable of bending, carrying, crouching, etc. Able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Rotating telehandler experience strongly preferred.
- Boom truck experience considered an asset.
- Valid Fall Protection certificate considered an asset.
- Valid First Aid certificate considered an asset.
Expected start date: ASAP
Regular hours are 4 x 10hr/days a week.

Pay: $27.00-$35.00 per hour
