Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Auto Body Prepper to join our automotive repair team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing vehicles for painting and repair, ensuring all surfaces are properly cleaned, sanded, and primed to meet dealership standards. This role is essential in maintaining high-quality service and efficient workflow within our dealership or repair shop environment. Prior dealership experience and mechanical knowledge are highly valued, along with familiarity with hand tools and power tools. The Auto Body Prepper plays a crucial role in supporting our mechanics and body technicians to deliver exceptional results.
Duties
- Clean and sand vehicle surfaces to prepare for painting or repairs using hand tools and power tools
- Mask off areas that do not require paint or repair work
- Assist with minor body repairs and alignments as needed
- Use heavy lifting techniques to move vehicles or parts safely within the shop
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency
- Collaborate with technicians to ensure proper preparation of vehicles for subsequent repair stages
- Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment at all times
Requirements
- Prior dealership experience Minimum 2 years
- Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle bodywork and repair processes
- Proficiency with hand tools such as sanders, grinders, and scrapers
- Experience with power tools used in auto body prep work
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 50 pounds)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Knowledge of automotive systems and repair procedures is a plus
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards
Pay: $21.00-$22.00 per hour
