Electrical Service Technician – Commercial Electrical

AltaPro is currently seeking a full-time Commercial Electrical Service Technician. This role is ideal for an experienced Journeyman Electrician who is confident working independently, troubleshooting electrical issues, communicating with clients, and completing commercial service work with minimal supervision.
Location: Edmonton, AB
Compensation: CA$41.34–CA$43.02 per hour
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with alternating on-call rotation
Company Vehicle: Service van and fuel card provided
On-call: Alternating on-call with other service technicians. Weekends and nights may be required as needed, but are rare.

The Opportunity:
This position is focused on commercial electrical service, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and small project work. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing their own service calls, diagnosing problems in existing electrical systems, and communicating clearly with clients, supervisors, and team members.
Strong independence, judgment, troubleshooting ability, and time management are essential for this role. You must be able to assess site conditions, work through issues, complete documentation, and make sound decisions while working alone or with an apprentice.
What You’ll Do:
o Review and respond to commercial electrical service work orders.
o Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and replace electrical components and systems.
o Install new electrical components, devices, equipment, and systems.
o Complete commercial service, maintenance, repair, and small project work.
o Work independently or with an apprentice, depending on the scope of work.
o Demonstrate a professional, customer-focused approach on client sites.
o Identify opportunities through strong customer relationships and clear communication.
o Adapt to new technologies and use electronic systems for documentation and communication.
o Complete quality control forms, service documentation, and required paperwork.
o Promote safe work practices and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
What You Bring:
o 10+ years of electrical experience.
o 3+ years of commercial service or maintenance experience.
o Alberta Journeyman Electrician Certification is required.
o Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and independent work skills.
o Ability to work alone, manage service calls, and make sound field decisions.
o Strong communication and customer service skills.
o CSTS 2020, Fall Protection, MEWP, ESTS, Standard First Aid, and LSE are assets or may be required.
o Safety harness and retractable lanyard.
