About the Position
Maven is a warm, neighborhood restaurant in Harbord Village serving contemporary, lively food with European Jewish roots. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced General Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion and deep understanding of the hospitality industry, and the leadership skills necessary to manage and inspire our dedicated staff.
Manager Responsibilities
Guest Service Management:
- Ensure exceptional guest service is delivered consistently.
- Address and resolve guest complaints and concerns.
- Train staff in guest service best practices.
Staff Supervision:
- Hire, train, and schedule FOH staff, including servers, hosts, and bartenders.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
- Oversee staff to ensure they follow company policies and procedures.
Operations Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the dining area.
- Ensure the restaurant is clean, organized, and properly set up for service.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels for FOH supplies.
- FOH scheduling
Guest Experience:
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the guest experience.
- Coordinate special events and promotions
- Ensure the ambiance and environment meet guest expectations.
Communication:
- Serve as a liaison between the FOH and kitchen staff.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management.
- Handle any internal conflicts or issues that arise among staff.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain records of staff performance, inventory, and financial transactions.
- Prepare and submit end-of-day reports to upper management as required.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of the food and beverage industry, including wine expertise.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
