We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join a team developing innovative cloud-based software solutions that support cutting-edge scientific and healthcare technologies. In this role, you will design and build scalable backend services, contribute to modern cloud architectures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-quality software products.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend APIs and software features.
Architect and implement cloud-native solutions using modern distributed systems and serverless technologies.
Build and enhance microservices-based applications using Java and Spring Boot.
Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following software engineering best practices.
Create and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) to improve software design, implementation, and productivity.
Research and evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and development practices to continuously improve engineering processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Contribute to software architecture discussions and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
6+ years of professional software development experience.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
Proven experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
Experience building and maintaining microservices-based architectures.
Strong knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
Experience working in Agile development environments.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving technical challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing cloud-native applications using AWS.
Frontend development experience and the ability to contribute to full-stack initiatives.
Background in life sciences, bioinformatics, healthcare, or medical devices.
Experience developing software in regulated environments with design control processes.

Expected Compensation Range:
90K. The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills, and qualifications, in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements.
Canadian Experience Requirement:
No Canadian work experience is required for this position. Candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of previous Canadian experience.
