Greenfoot Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal / Ventilation Foreman to lead ventilation system installations on multi-unit residential (MURB) construction projects. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience in mid- to high-rise residential builds, with a Red Seal Certification being considered an asset.
This role is responsible for supervising crews and coordinating the installation of centralized and in-suite ventilation systems, including HRVs, ERVs, and complete duct distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Coordination
- Collaborate with project managers, site superintendents, and other trades to plan and schedule ventilation work within MURB construction timelines
Site Supervision
- Lead and supervise sheet metal and HVAC crews on active construction sites
- Ensure installations meet project specifications, drawings, and quality standards
System Installation Oversight
- Oversee installation of:
- In-suite and centralized HRV/ERV systems
- Vertical risers and horizontal duct distribution
- Corridor pressurization and exhaust systems
- Ensure work is completed efficiently across multi-unit layouts and repetitive floor plans
Quality Control & Commissioning Support
- Inspect installations for compliance with mechanical drawings, specifications, and building codes
- Support system startup, balancing, and commissioning activities
Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution
- Identify and resolve installation challenges, coordination conflicts, and system deficiencies
- Work closely with other trades to address site-related issues
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records including daily reports, progress tracking, and deficiency logs
- Assist with as-built documentation and turnover packages
Training & Mentorship
- Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians
- Promote best practices in installation techniques and productivity
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce site safety protocols and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
- Maintain adherence to building codes, mechanical standards, and project requirements
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Liaise with general contractors, developers, and consultants regarding project progress and issues
- Represent the company professionally on-site
Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with advancements in MURB ventilation systems, building codes, and energy efficiency standards
- Coordinate material deliveries, manpower, and sequencing across multiple units and floors
Qualifications:
- Red Seal Certification is considered an asset.
- 5+ years of experience in multi-unit residential (MURB) or light commercial construction
- Multi-unit ventilation design and installation
- Building science and air balancing principles
- Proven leadership experience managing crews on large-scale construction projects
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Strong organizational and time management skills in fast-paced, multi-phase builds
- Excellent communication and coordination skills across trades and stakeholders
Work Environment:
The bulk of work will be based within HRM, however, the position may require travel to various company locations and client sites throughout Nova Scotia.
