Overview
We are looking for a Persian Rug Restoration and Appraisal Specialist
to join our dynamic team.
Responsibilities
- Authenticate antique and handmade Persian rugs — region of origin, weaving technique, materials, and agePerform structural restoration: hand-knotting, re-wefting, edge and fringe repair
- Perform dye matching and colour restoration using traditional methods
- Appraise the market and historical value of antique and handmade Persian rugs
- Advise clients on authenticity, condition, and care
- Support evaluation of rugs received on consignment or for purchase
Qualifications
- Extensive, verifiable experience in Persian rug restoration, authentication, and/or appraisal
- In-depth knowledge of traditional Persian weaving regions and techniques
- Fine manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Formal reference letters or credentials demonstrating specialized expertise are an asset
