Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 6,100 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 34 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Grande Prairie/Spirit River region.
We are seeking candidates with high professional standards, and who have knowledge and experience in the area of inclusive education and/or student behaviour management. We invite applications for a Temporary Full-Time Behaviour Support Teacher. Working as a member of the Inclusive Services Team, the candidate may collaborate and work alongside school staff, and other members of the Behaviour Support Team to provide expertise to schools across the division. The team will be focused on students in grades 7-12 who require more intentional educational planning, as well as providing guidance and professional development for site staff when needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education degree.

Current Alberta Teachers Certificate.

Excellence in all competencies of the Teaching Quality Standard.

Committed to a research-driven professional practice and are able to work as part of a collaborative team.

Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) or similar is an asset.

Experience with developing and implementing evidence-based interventions to promote positive behaviour.

Excellent self-regulation and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Ability to travel to all schools within the Peace Wapiti Public School Division .

Knowledge of specialized programming and resources for students with diverse learning and behaviour needs.
- Knowledge of legal and policy requirements related to inclusive education.

Excellent communication, coaching, and networking skills.
- Level B Assessment certification is an asset.
