About Federal Steel
Federal Steel (Équipement d'Acier Fédéral Ltée) is a supplier of warehouse racking and storage systems with roughly 75 years of experience delivering space-optimization solutions to clients across Quebec and Canada. We are a small-to-mid-sized, hands-on company where every team member has a direct impact on how well we run.
Position Summary
We are looking for a Sales Development Representative (SDR) to build our sales pipeline and set our sales team up to win. This is the engine room of our sales process: you'll turn incoming interest into qualified, booked meetings, and keep our past and current clients engaged so new opportunities keep coming.
What makes this role distinct is the volume of warm demand behind it. Federal Steel receives roughly 50 to 100 inbound leads each month, so your day is about working real interest well — responding quickly, asking the right questions, and getting the right prospects in front of the right salesperson.
This is not a closing role — you won't be quoting projects or negotiating final contracts. But it is well above order-taking: we need someone who can qualify an opportunity with judgment, manage a high volume of follow-ups without letting anything slip, and represent Federal Steel professionally on every call. It's a strong entry point into a sales career for the right person.
Key Responsibilities
Pipeline & Appointment Setting
- Respond quickly to inbound leads (HubSpot, website, phone, referrals) and qualify each one.
- Qualify on what matters most: project type, timeline, and who makes the decision.
- Book qualified meetings for the sales team and hand off a clear, complete brief on each opportunity.
Client Development
- Re-engage past and current clients on a regular schedule to revive quiet accounts and surface new projects.
- Follow up on past quotes to learn the outcome and spot future work.
- Maintain relationships with key contacts and keep their details current.
CRM & Reporting
- Keep HubSpot accurate and up to date — contacts, communications, follow-ups, and next steps.
- Share a short weekly update on leads, meetings booked, and pipeline.
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years in inside sales, business development, customer service, or sales support — ideally in a project-based, industrial, or construction-related setting.
- Comfortable making a high volume of calls and building rapport quickly over the phone.
- Bilingual (French and English): comfortable working day-to-day in French, with English used for certain clients.
- Well organized and self-driven, able to manage many follow-ups and deadlines without letting things slip.
- Willing and able to learn Federal Steel's racking and storage products and how a project moves from quote to installation.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience with a CRM such as HubSpot (or similar).
- Background in warehousing, storage/racking, material handling, construction, or industrial equipment.
- A track record of re-engaging past clients or growing existing accounts.
Working Conditions
- On-site at our Lachine office, Monday to Friday.
- Standard business hours.
