Materials Technician – Temporary to Permanent
About Our Client
Located in Mississauga, our automotive client is looking for a highly experienced shipping and receiving team member, to work as a Materials Technicianin a dynamic and supportive environment.
What You’ll Be Doing as a Materials Technician:
- · Receives, reviews, and processes requests for materials, supplies, and equipment needed for specific projects and general activities.
- · Determines accuracy of paper work by closely reviewing pertinent information on documents and purchase requests that are sent to Procurement.
- · Rechecks quantities and condition of materials delivered and takes corrective action when appropriate; verifies receipt of shipments when original invoice is received and certifies invoices for payment.
- · Must follow the procedure and safely operate a gas or electric counterbalance forklift to move, stack, load and unload material within the facility.
- · Perform routine cycle counts of parts and or components.
- · Monitor, reinforce and audit FIFO.
- · Transmit ASN (Advanced Shipping Notice) systematically.
- · Stage.
- · Receive inbound material via TRANS4M, PLEX and CMMSIII (as required).
- · Report shortages of components and finished goods.
- · Facilitate and lead 5-S activities.
- · Monitor and respond to Plex monitor.
- · Other duties as required
What You’ll Need to Succeed as a Materials Technician:
- · Minimum 2 years of experience in a forklift position with counterbalance
- · Minimum 2 years of experience in Shipping and Receiving
- · Valid forklift license (not in house – must be third party)
- · Strong attention to detail and technical aptitude
- · Able to lift up to 30 lbs when needed
- · Comfortable following verbal and written instructions in English
- · Must wear CSA-approved safety footwear
- · Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
- · A minimum of one year of experience reading freight bills, and bill of ladings.
- One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred
In Return, You Will Receive:
- · $27.80 per hour
- · 4% vacation pay (accrued and paid out upon request)
- · Full-time hourswith the opportunity for long-term/permanent placement for the right candidate
- · Ongoing support from a dedicated Vertical Staffing Representative (Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm)
The Shift You Will be Working is:
- · Monday to Friday
- · 8:00am to 4:30pm (for now)
- · Production shift will change in September and at that time, you will working 6:00am to 2:30pm
