Reporting to the Dining Room Manager, the Dietary Aide provides meal service to our residents, providing skilled care in an empathetic and nurturing manner. As our successful candidate, you will be a dynamic, self-motivated individual in providing quality-focused care to older adults in a home-like atmosphere.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete departmental cleaning and ware washing as required.
- Serve food to residents observing special diet restrictions, resident preferences and outlined departmental procedures.
- Load and safely operate dishwasher.
- Set up serving carts and meal trays.
- Prepare beverages and snacks and deliver to designated areas.
- Clear tables, clean and reset for next service.
- Perform kitchen cleanup duties.
- Sort silverware and refill condiments.
- Take out garbage and recyclable materials.
- Sweep and mop floor and assist in scheduled cleaning duties in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Keep work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous equipment and supplies, etc.
- Follow all company policies and procedures including fire and safety programs.
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous serving experience, preferably in a retirement home.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, stand and walk short distances throughout the day and to tolerate heat from kitchen area.
- Must be willing to work as a team player and demonstrate a positive attitude.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Demonstrate patience, tolerance and politeness when responding to residents, visitors and co-workers
- Excellent customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Must provide a vulnerable sector police check.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
