We are looking for passionate instructors to join our teaching team as independent contractors.
Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic Coding & Game Development Instructor to teach live online classes for children.
This is an independent contractor position. You will teach classes offered through our organization using your own teaching style and instructional approach while meeting the learning objectives and class descriptions provided.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys teaching, coding, gaming, and working with children in a flexible online environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach live online coding and game development classes for children ages 8–15
- Create an engaging, positive, and supportive classroom environment
- Deliver lessons that align with the published class description and learning objectives
- Encourage student participation and build student confidence
- Begin classes on time and maintain a professional online presence
- Communicate professionally with the organization regarding scheduling or class concerns
- Follow Outschool policies and our organization's teaching standards
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Scratch
- Python
- Roblox Studio (Lua)
- Game Design
- Computer Science fundamentals
- Experience working with children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counselling, etc.)
- Strong communication skills
- Reliable internet and a quiet teaching environment
- Confidence leading groups of children online
- A friendly, energetic, and professional personality
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous online teaching experience
- Experience with Outschool or similar online learning platforms
- Bachelor's degree or current post-secondary studies in Computer Science, Education, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience creating engaging learning activities for children
Schedule
- Flexible, based on class offerings and enrollment
- Classes are scheduled in advance
- Instructors choose which teaching opportunities they wish to accept
- Additional teaching opportunities may become available as the organization grows
Compensation
This is an independent contractor position.
Compensation is based on a revenue-sharing model. Contractors receive an agreed-upon percentage of the net class revenue after applicable platform fees.
Additional details regarding compensation will be discussed during the interview process.
