Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Educator to join our 3–5 Program at Weave Childcare Centre, located at 3905 Norland Ave, Burnaby. This is a permanent position within a collaborative, supportive, and growing team. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a safe, nurturing, creative, and inclusive environment where children ages 3 to 5 can learn, explore, build confidence, and thrive.
Responsibilities
Provide attentive, caring, and responsive supervision for children ages 3 to 5, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Plan and implement age-appropriate, play-based activities that support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, language, creative, and physical development.
Create engaging learning experiences through art, music, storytelling, outdoor play, group activities, and child-led exploration.
Support children in developing independence, confidence, self-help skills, positive peer relationships, and problem-solving abilities.
Adapt activities and support strategies to meet the needs of children with diverse abilities, learning styles, cultures, and family backgrounds.
Build warm, respectful, and trusting relationships with children and families through consistent communication and professional care practices.
Work collaboratively with team members to maintain a positive, inclusive, well-organized, and engaging classroom environment.
Observe and document children’s learning, development, behavior, and interests to support planning and communication with families.
Guide children with patience, kindness, and positive behaviour guidance strategies.
Ensure health, safety, and sanitation protocols are consistently followed to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Qualifications Required
Early Childhood Educator Certificate to Practice in British Columbia
Current Childcare First Aid & CPR Certificate
Clear Criminal Record Check through the Ministry of Public Safety
Proof of immunizations as required by licensing regulations
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working in a 3–5 program, preschool, daycare, or similar early learning setting
Strong knowledge of play-based learning, child-led exploration, positive guidance, and inclusive practice
Ability to plan creative and developmentally appropriate activities for children ages 3 to 5
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Patience, empathy, flexibility, and a genuine passion for supporting children’s growth and development
Commitment to creating a warm, respectful, and engaging learning environment for children and families
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00-$29.00 per hour
